KEY STAGE 1 PHONICS

The school uses Letters and Sounds as its phonics program in Key Stage 1.

Children in Year R and Year 1 will have a daily phonics session which will focus on individual phonemes (sounds), blending and segmenting skills (reading and spelling) and developing sentence writing.

In Year 2 the focus is on using phonics to aid spelling.

Reading books are sent home regularly for children and parents to enjoy.

For further information on the teaching of phonics, please call in to the school and make an appointment to see your class teacher.
